The story of the Só Hotels began in 2012 and today boasts a collection of 6 luxury hotels across Ireland. Só is the Irish word for Luxury and encapsulates everything about the Só Hotels. Só Hotels sister companies are the Supermac’s and Plaza Groups. All are family owned and run by Pat & Una McDonagh.
The story began in 2012 with the acquisition of the Castletroy Park Hotel, located in Limerick. Its close proximity to the University of Limerick & Limerick City means it has long established itself as one of Limerick’s top hotels. In 2014, the group grew with the purchase of the 91-bedroom Lough Rea Hotel & Spa, based in the picturesque town of Loughrea in Co Galway. The Lough Rea Hotel & Spa boasts a spectacular Rooftop Bar which overlooks the lake & local countryside. In addition, its award winning Shore Island Spa stretches across 3 floors of the Hotel offering various treatments and relaxation rooms in its Thermal Suite.
2015 saw a particularly exciting year for Só Hotels, with the purchase of a further 2 hotels; namely the Charleville Park Hotel in Co. Cork and the Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise. Now with 4 hotels, a group was formed under the brand ‘Só Hotels’. During 2018 the Athlone Springs joined the Só Hotels family with 68 bedrooms. Since then, refurbishment work has been carried out to the extensive leisure centre and newly decorated bar & ballroom.
In 2019 the group continued its successes and added the Castle Oaks House Hotel & Estate to its portfolio of hotels. The Georgian Manor House has extensive grounds that stretch to the banks of the River Shannon making it the perfect backdrop for weddings & family get togethers. It boasts a newly opened, state of the art, leisure centre.
Since 2012, the Só Hotels group has welcomed over 1,000,000 visitors from more than 76 countries worldwide. We have hosted over 1,000 magical weddings and won over 40 hospitality awards.
